Privacy policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026
This policy explains what personal information ThriftyMap collects, how it’s used, and your choices. It applies to thriftymap.com and the ThriftyMap mobile app.
Information we collect
- Account info: when you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your email, name, and profile picture from that provider.
- Content you post: dish names, prices, photos, restaurant names, and the coordinates you attach to a find. This content is public.
- Location: if you grant location access, your browser/device shares your position so the map can center nearby and so newly posted finds can be tagged. We do not record a history of your location.
- Basic server logs: IP address, request timestamps, and user agent, kept briefly for abuse prevention and debugging.
How we use it
- Operate the site and app (sign-in, posting, map display).
- Keep the community healthy (spam/abuse prevention, moderation).
- Communicate with you about your account if needed — we don’t send marketing email.
Sharing
We don’t sell personal data. We use a small number of service providers to run the site (hosting, authentication providers, map tile providers, backup storage). They only receive data needed to perform their role.
Your choices
- You can delete any of your posts at any time.
- You can request account deletion by emailing us at the address below — this removes your account and severs your posts from your identity.
- You can revoke location permission in your browser or device.
Children
ThriftyMap isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above reflects the current version.
